Kariong Intake and Transit Centre is located near Gosford on the Central Coast. It is an intake and transit centre for classified inmates moving between Sydney and the NSW north coast, and it also holds fresh custody remand inmates awaiting placement. The smoke-free facility accommodates up to 56 people, with capacity for 96 if required, and includes a separate unit for women.
What this centre is used for
Kariong manages intake, short-term transit and people awaiting court, including remand and revocation inmates received from the NSW Police Force, and pre-positioned inmates for court attendances.
