Hakea Prison is the main receival and assessment prison for adult men in the Perth metropolitan area, located at Canning Vale. It operates as a maximum-security and remand facility and incorporates the former Canning Vale Prison and CW Campbell Remand Centre.
What this facility is used for
Hakea receives men from courts and police, holding a large remand population awaiting court as well as newly sentenced prisoners. Prisoners are assessed here and given individual management plans before any transfer to another prison.
