About this centre
Mary Wade Correctional Centre is a women’s facility at Lidcombe, about 19km west of the Sydney CBD. It operates as a reception and remand centre for female offenders and was named after Mary Wade, a convict transported to colonial NSW in 1790.
What this centre is used for
The centre receives and holds female inmates, including those on remand, helping to reduce pressure on Silverwater Women’s Correctional Centre.
Visits and contact
All visits must be booked by calling the visitor booking line on Tuesday or Wednesday between 9:00am and 12:00pm. Bookings can also be made through JUST Connect. Legal visits are available seven days a week, 8:30am to 12:00pm and 12:30pm to 3:00pm; notify the Manager of Security in advance. AVL contact numbers are (02) 8737 5054 and (02) 8737 5055. Before travelling, call to confirm the visit and visiting time.
